Las Vegas date ideas for locals

You live here, so skip the tourist traps. These are date ideas locals actually enjoy, sorted by what kind of date you're after, including plenty that work when it's 110 outside.

Easy first dates

  • Coffee in the Arts District. Walkable, local, and easy to extend into a gallery stroll if it's going well.
  • Springs Preserve. Gardens, trails and museums near downtown. Good for a daytime walk and talk.
  • A food crawl on Spring Mountain Road. Chinatown has some of the best food in the city. Share a few small plates at a couple of spots.
  • Downtown Summerlin. Shops, restaurants and outdoor seating, with a Las Vegas Aviators game at the ballpark next door in season.

Outdoors (fall to spring)

  • Red Rock Canyon at sunset. Drive the scenic loop or do a short hike like Calico Tanks. Book the timed entry reservation if it's required when you go.
  • Lake Las Vegas. Waterfront walks, paddleboards and a quieter dinner.
  • Valley of Fire. About an hour away. A great second or third date, not a first.
  • Mount Charleston. 20 to 30 degrees cooler than the valley, so it works in summer too.

Beat the summer heat

  • The Neon Museum at night, in the Boneyard of old Vegas signs.
  • The Mob Museum downtown, with a speakeasy downstairs.
  • A climbing or bouldering gym. Fun, a little competitive, and air-conditioned.
  • A show at The Smith Center for a dressier date.

Something different

  • First Friday in the Arts District, the first Friday of every month.
  • A cooking class for two.
  • Clark County Wetlands Park for birdwatching and a quiet walk on the east side.
  • Seven Magic Mountains south of town, best at golden hour.
